click on pic for hi-resolution WVBF PROSERIES BEACH VOLLEY TOURThe peak of emotions in Lugano Lugano, 27th August 2007 - An enthusiastic audience for a big final : Sunday evening the team made up of Gregor Lah and the Serbian Nikola Vucic conquered the only Swiss leg of the WVBF Proseries Beach Volleyball Tour. As for the women the American Liz Pagano was crowned “Lady of the Beach” The participants and spectators expressed there joy for the first Edition in Lugano of the WVBF PROSERIES BEACH VOLLEY TOUR, three days of competition organized by the Swiss Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Union sponsored by the World Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Federation (WVBF) and the collaboration of the City of Lugano Sports Department. The tournament took place at the Campus Beach Lugano Presassona for which we thank Danillo Zucca. With the formula Golden gala, the best teams of the moment offered great emotions to all the fans of Beach Volleyball. One of the favorite teams, the Cuban Lazaro Milian Carvajal and the Spaniard David Llop, who unfortunately had to abandon after Llop’s injury, left the door open to the American team of Said Souikane and John Michelau. The pair made there way to the final full of emotional comebacks as the team Gregor Lah and Nikola Vucic won after three match balls lost by the Americans. Third place was taken by the Swiss Bernhard Vesti and the Slovakian Alexander Pivk who took the best of the pair Teemu Tolonen from Finland and the Serbian Nemjana Vucic. In the lady’s events, the American Liz Pagano named Lady of the Beach topped the Italian Luna Perucci, the Brazilian Angie Gonzales and the Swiss Denise Koelliker. Besides the superb summer weather, the side activities contributed to the success in Lugano with a taste of Slovenian dancers and the Beach camp for children and teenagers. On this last subject, the President of the World Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Federation Mr. Jean-Pierre Seppey expressed his enthusiasm before a large audience stressing the importance of the participation of children and teenagers in sport activities.
