DICTATORSHIP TO DEMOCRACY ( Tokyo le 24th October 2006) Jean-Pierre Seppey, whose candidature to the FIVB Presidency was refused and who was not authorized to enter the FIVB Congress in Tokyo, declared today that Ruben Acosta has dug the grave of the FIVB by forcing once more his election to the Presidency for a new period until 2010. Elected in 2004, he will have accumulated more than a quarter’s century in managing the sport with principles contrary to the ethic. He explained that the very old and questionable man, was sanctioned by the IOC in may 2004, for the misuse of the IOC funds in order to finance his commissions, was sanctioned in 2006 by the penal Judge of the Canton de Vaud for having objectively altered FIVB accounts’ titles and he is under an inquiry by the tax cantonal authorities for not having declared huge income; he only could gather in Tokyo around one hundred of the 219 National federations who compose FIVB. Regretting that the FIVB President used most of the time in the Congress for attacking himself instead of speaking of Acostas’ irregularities, Jean-Pierre Seppey informed that many Associations and Personalities are invited to the founding FIABVB Congress in Copenhag on 25-26th November 2006. He was said by many actual FIVB members that they are disappointed because as in the past they had to elect an old man who has decided alone to be the sole candidate. Seppey, who traveled to Tokyo accompanied by a very important delegation, explained at a subsequent press conference that the FIABVB, which they are promoting, does not have anything to do with Acosta’s domain. With us are represented National Associations and famous Personalities who are willing to defend the ethical principles in sport, to comply with the IOC fundamental principles and to recognize the jurisdiction of CAS, the sport arbitration Court in Lausanne. He said also clearly that he would not be surprised to meet in Copenhag many delegates of the FIVB congress as they had been present in Tokyo where their national teams will begin the World Championships next 31st October. From now on, the sport world will assist to the FALL DOWN of the DICTATOR SHIP and to the BIRTH of the DEMOCRACY. In the FIABVB there is enough space for all because we respect each nation equally; we listen to the players and to each member’s opinion. That is the true democracy!
